It's always sad when a police dog dies. But now we won't have to worry as much because the police have announced that they had made stab resistant vest's. They decided to call the new harnesses mako's, and they have two special pads where their vital organs are to protect them from being stabbed or slashed. The harnesses were trialled on eight dogs in Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington. The vest's will be manufactured by a Hamilton based specialist. I got this information from
