For art we have to do a mural and paint it with water colours. The mural has to have meaning to us and be our original ideas. Mine has a koru, moari water symbole, danish/viking symbol, waves, land, kiwi, puokeko, cabbage tree, birds, stars, a cloud and it also has the word aroha in the waves which is moari for love.
This is the viking symbol that I used. Sorry could not find the correct symbol for the moari water one.

Imogens report on Masons holiday
Yesterday he did rugby in Te Aroha, they played whangamata and wahi and won 19/17.On sunday they played Te Aroha again and won 27/15, and after that played Whangamata and wahi again and won 37/5.
Day before that he went to rainbows end with his cousins, His favourite thing that he went on was that Stratosphere and the Invader and his least favourite was the log flume. The funniest bit was when there was a boy about to spew on the invader.
They went hunting for deer and caught four in Rotorua. The first day they shot one in the morning and one at night, then slept in the ute and the next morning they shot one more, Then shot another the next day.
They went to the movies and watched BFG, and thought that it was funny at points. There was a big giant that took Sophie to Giant town where there was nine other big giants that ate humans, they lived outside and their blankets were grass.

Fried bread
Today we made fried bread because it is maori language week. Fried bread is a traditional recipe that use to be made all the time by maori's.The maori's made fried bread a lot because it was and easy recipe filling and the ingredients were easy to find. Today I got to try it out, and this is what I thought.
The making:First we got some hot water and dissolved some sugar in it. Then we put some yeast in the mixture. While we let our yeast drop to the bottom of the cup we mixed our drys, in a bowl we put some flour and salt. Then we added our wet mixture and mixed it, before putting it on a floured table and kneading. After kneading for a while we put them into balls and left them to rise for ten minutes while we did our dishes. Ten minutes passed and when we returned we flattened the dough to the size we wanted our bread, then put them in a pan filled with hot oil and leaving them to cook. After about three minutes they were ready to be flipped. We knew that they needed to be flipped because they would go golden on one side. After both sides were cooked we put them on a plate and added some maple syrup to them.
The tasting:The bread tasted different to anything I had ever tasted before, they were weird but good at the same time, and did not taste like normal bread. It was sort of like fried fish but different and was very filling.
Over all I think that they were really fun to make and did not taste that bad either.

Te kiwi tuatahi
Once there was a tree called Aroha for it brought heaps of love. The tree produced kiwi fruits was the only source of food in the area other than the lake. How ever there was not only one tribe in the area, and the tree was on one of the tribe Kuatikia’s land so the other tribe Towhiatihuia had to go without. But Towhiatahuia was planning to attack and take the other tribe kuatikia’s land. The Kuatiki tribe was also very selfish and would not share anything that was on their land so was disliked by many other tribes, and had many enemies. As night fell the Towhiatihuia tribe made thier way towards the land of Kuatikia. But through the trees they saw the flickering of light and realised that another tribe from the area was about to attack as well. So the Towhiathuia tribe decided to go around and attack from the opposite side. As they drew closer they blew out their torch and snuck around the bushes getting ready to attack. They ran into the marae and started to fight both tribes at the same time. An hour passed and it looked like the Towhiathuia tribe had won. Then a person shouted titiro, everyone looked towards the kiwi fruit tree to see a person from the Kuatikia tribe yelling something into the night sky.Standing by the tree he said, maka ahau he kanga ki runga ki tenei rakau . Kia tetahi hua kiwi mataati tahuri ki te manu . Then he turned towards the tribe and yelled Ki te kore e taea e tatou e to te reira kahore he tangata e taea. Before getting stabbed in the chest by a spear. Falling to the ground his blood trickled onto the tree and with a bright flash six ripe kiwi fruits turned into small brown flightless birds with long beaks. Disappointed the Towhiatuhuia tribe named the bird a kiwi after the tree.
