Broods has won five Tuis at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards also known as the VNZMA.The kiwi duo are brother and sister, and also won four awards last year.This year they have won, best album of the year Broods-conscious, single of the year for Free, as well as best pop album, best group and the peoples choice awards. Aradhna received some Tuis for best female solo artist and best urban/hip hop album for brown girl. Singer song writer Bic Runga won a legacy award for her contributions and efforts in kiwi music industry and has been welcomed into the kiwi music hall of fame.
