The food production in Syria has dropped so low that 80% of Syrian people either struggle with lack of food or don't have enough money to buy food. Syria has been in war now for quit a while and it is destroying the country.Many famers have had to leave their farms because they are unable to afford tractor and motor bike fuel, seeds and fertilisers. More than seven million people in Syria are food insecure meaning that they don't know when, if, or where their next meal is coming from. The worst affected by this food shortage is east Aleppo which has the  rebel part of the city surrounded by government forces Where the UN has announced that 250,000 to 275,000 civilians still live.
